Picture this: dinner under the stars, accompanied by a festive vibe where the music provides an energy that makes you want to stay there all night. Imagine being given a service that is so personal and engaging it makes you feel as if you were the only customer around. And to top it off, picture a menu that is so diverse and so interesting, you are tempted to try everything.
Where can I find such a place, you ask? We were introduced to this remarkable spot, The Terrace Bar and Grill, located at Southdale Plaza, off Constant Spring Road in St. Andrew. Upon entry, we had to wait a few minutes (which was understandable considering that it is a Saturday night and the place was packed). But what really had me was the graciousness of the server as she came over and ushered us to our seat. I observed how polite and accommodating the severs were, and that is to be commended.
Edit: Now located at 17 Holborn Road, Kingston.
As much as we wanted everything on the menu, we knew it was not possible so we settled for Loaded Fries and Chicken Wings with Kiss me Neck (yes, I did say kiss me neck) sauce— those were appetizers—and for the main course we had Poseidon’s Revenge Pasta and Trini Coconut Shrimp.
If you love cheese and fries, the next time you visit please (please!) try the Loaded Fries. It is covered with creamy, gooey cheese, chicken and bacon pieces, with tomato and escallion. You will not regret it, trust me! The Kiss Me Neck sauce had an awesome collaboration with the Chicken Wings which was very moist and had a nice balance of seasoning.
I had the Trini Coconut Shrimp, and the only thing left on my plate when I was through was a piece of onion—it was that good! The shrimps were big and juicy (just the way I like it), and the coconut curried sauce had the right amount of everything—salt, pepper, coconut sauce and curry. Amazing!
Poseidon’s Revenge Pasta is a dish containing penne pasta served in herb cream sauce with extra cheese, accompanied by fish and shrimp. Again, we were not disappointed. The sauce was the star of the dish—it was very creamy and flavorful and it positively overwhelmed the fish, shrimp and pasta, which, on their own were very well seasoned.
To the virgin cocktail lovers—try their Mango Daiquiri—I think I’m obsessed with it!To everyone else that can hold their liquor (no problem!)-please try their Terrace Boss Magarita (it contains tequila, lime juice, cranberry juice, apple sour, triple sec. etc.)
So, the next time you are in the mood to dine out, try The Terrace Bar and Grill! It was a refreshing experience for us and we will definitely be back.
