We recently made a trip to Ocho Rios, and stopped by The Spring Garden Cafe and Seafood Grill. It’s an elegant restaurant that provides a classy, intimate setting that is ideal for a nice quiet evening out with loved ones. With a tasteful décor and comfortable furniture, The Spring Garden Cafe is a great place to relax.
From the get-go we received a great service- it was personable, prompt and helpful.
We loved the variety of the menu that The Spring Garden Cafe provides; we had a warm time deciding what to choose because everything was so appealing. Eventually we obeyed the instructions given by our taste buds and made our choices.
We began with Coconut Chicken Fingers and Red Peas & Conch Soup. I liked the flakiness of the coconut shavings, they added a crunchiness to the well seasoned chicken breasts and the sweet, spicy homemade mango chutney sauce was like an icing on the cake. Highly recommended.
The richness of the soup was welcome; the savory flavors were very present.
Next we had Stuffed Snapper Au Gratin, which is filet snapper stuffed with crab meat. It was a delicious dish; there was a good combination with fish and crab, and although they were modestly seasoned, the accompanied cream sauce positively complimented them both. The serving size may not be ideal for a big eater but it was enough for me. The dish also included fresh vegetables which provided a healthy finish to this tasty dish.
Our other choice was Pineapple Curried Fish—an unusual dish, and one that we had to try. At the first bite, there was a battle of flavors in our mouths– an instant burst of a tangy, fruity flavor followed by an earthy, smoky taste. It was an interesting dish, with the fish being meaty and delightedly flavored with a mix of coconut and pineapple sauce. The only drawback was that the fish was not evenly cooked, as one section was a bit tough. Besides that, it was all good.
We also recommend that you try the Spring Garden Cooler; it is a refreshing, fruity cocktail that hits all the right spots. It has just about the right amount of alcohol to give you a nice buzz!
We certainly see a revisit to the Spring Garden Cafe in our future.
