Sharmz Curry Pot and Lounge, located on the outskirts of Spanish Town, serves one of the best curried mutton we’ve ever eaten.
The evening found us at a quaint food spot that we’d gotten rave reviews about.
And that’s saying a lot, for we’ve had many a curry mutton in our lifetime.
Sharmz Curry Pot and Lounge offers dining and takeout services.
Whatever the option, you will get a good customer service.
The warm staff accommodates anyone who walks into their space.
They are open every day Sunday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm. It is easy to find; just off the main highway, a short distance from the Old Harbor Road roundabout.
Too busy for a visit? They deliver too; catering to the St. Catherine and Kingston massive. You can call and place your order, and they’ll get it to you.
Now, let’s get to the food—because that’s the main attraction. We discovered that all cooking (except the rice) is done on a wood fire, giving the food the enhanced flavor that diners enjoy so much.
On their menu, they offer:
- Curried Goat
- Curried Chicken
- Fried Chicken
- Barbi-Fried Chicken
- Sweet and Sour Chicken
- Sliced Fish
- Curried Tripe and Beans
- Curried Cowhead
Today, we sampled curried mutton, fried chicken with roti and white rice.
And let me tell you, the reviews were on point.
Taking the first bite of curry goat was like tasting a piece of heaven. There was a burst of flavor in my mouth, followed by a lingering spice that woke me up. Coupled with the warm, soft roti, it made my taste buds dance with happiness.
The fried chicken came with a nice, crunchy exterior and the right balance of flavors. Inside, a soft, moistness awaited. I chewed down to the bone (sorry, not sorry!)
To think I wasn’t even hungry when we began this trip. I ate like I hadn’t taken a bite for hours.
After such a successful meal, and from all the reviews, we definitely recommend this food spot. It’s a ‘must return’ spot for us, to try the other items on the menu.
If you should ever pass by, don’t hesitate to stop and give them a try!
