The city of Kingston offers a wide variety of restaurants which includes Chinese, Mediterranean, Japanese and of course, our local dishes, which is one of the reasons why we choose to leave our parish of St. Catherine to dine in the city. We can always find a restaurant that caters to whatever craving we may have.
We found an upbeat restaurant in Dunrobin, Kingston that offers great food and excellent service. The name of the restaurant is The Macau Restaurant Gaming Lounge and Bar, and the dining area is in an open setting, and diners can enjoy the natural breeze while gazing at the stars above. The setting is romantic, with candles placed on each table to illuminate the space. The bar is a contrast to the dining area; it is situated at the back of the establishment, it is greatly illuminated and is activity filled, so you can choose where you want to dine depending on your mood.
This is a restaurant that we have been to before; one of our main reasons for returning is that it’s closed late, which is a good thing as we are ever considered as early birds. We are always running neck and neck with time to catch the kitchens before they are closed. But at Macaus, we can arrive in a relaxed way, knowing that they won’t be closing their doors any time soon.
On this particular night I was in the mood for something fried, so I ordered some Breaded Chicken Strips with BBQ sauce with a side of Potato Wedges. I was certainly not disappointed! It was just what my palate wanted; the breading was light on the chicken, which was crunchy and surprisingly, not too greasy. It was so good that I started eating it alone, then I remembered the bar-be-que sauce. When I dipped the chicken in and tasted it- oh my word- superb! The sauce and a smoky and tangy flavor which was just heavenly. I was so into the chicken and sauce that I forgot the potato wedges, which seemed basic to the rest of the meal. But then I decided to dip them in the sauce, which was a great idea. The combination was genius!
In contrast, Bradley was dissatisfied with his meal. He had asked for something cheesy with pasta, but got Breaded Chicken Breasts with Parmesan Cheese in return, but being a trooper, he decided to try it anyway. Unfortunately, he regretted it as the the chicken was dry and lacked seasoning. The cheese that covered the chicken was bland as well. In the end I had to share my meal with him.
We decided to not allow a bad meal to ruin our outlook of the restaurant, as we have returned several times after that, especially for their chicken wings, which come in regular, BBQ and hot and spicy. If you are not afraid of the heat, we strongly recommend the hot and spicy, with some coleslaw on the side. It is heavenly!
Another dish we’ve tried multiple times on our visits is the Chicken and/or Shrimp Pasta. Packed with a range of flavors, the creamy pasta can be eaten solo. The added chicken and shrimp is icing on the cake. The serving is a generous one.

If you’re looking for an healthier option, try their Caesar Salad. The dish comes with fresh, crunchy vegetables and fruit. Portion size is good. You can choose from their salad dressing options; ranch, italian and caesar, among others.
We encourage to visit and try their range of dishes; they are located at 28 Lindsay Crescent, Kingston, Jamaica.
